Introduction Post

My name is John Paul Bannerman and I am 21 years old from Manchester, CT. This blog is for a course I am enrolled in: MGMT 3234. The main purpose of this blog is so that my professor, my fellow classmates and myself can see the progress towards the launch of my own web based venture. But for right now, I want to use this post to talk a little more about myself outside of school.

In addition to being a UConn School of Business student, I am an avid comic book reader. I read pretty much any comic I can get through my local shop in Manchester called "Hero's Legacy" or through digital platforms such as "Comixology". In addition to reading stories put out by the big two: DC and Marvel, I have begun to branch farther out into smaller companies such as Image, Vertigo, and IDW. What makes me such a fan of comic books and and a fan of fiction in general, is something that I think all humans share which is a craving for melodrama.

This craving for melodrama comes from the fact that most of us are bored a lot of the time with things in life like work, school, etc. that we would often view as ordinary and mundane. What fiction does for me is, it allows for a simulation of bigger worlds, larger than life characters, stories and emotions to take place that I the reader can follow and throughout the course of the book, see the characters grow, change, struggle etc. irregardless of them being the hero or the villain.
